Cover for cargo risks forms a major part of P&I cover provided by the club. The club does not insure the cargo itself, but insures liabilities that are incurred by its members as carriers. Usual cover is provided on the basis that members contract on terms no less favourable than Hague/Hague-Visby terms. Cover also extends to additional related costs, for example, the disposal of damaged cargo.

For information on what is covered and additional cargo risks see the club’s tailored cargo covers.

The club has a vast amount of experience in managing cargo claims in different trades, for example, dry bulk cargo, containerised cargo, refrigerated cargo and liquid bulk cargo.  Our dedicated loss prevention department also provides technical cargo advice.

Members with any cargo claims or queries are advised to contact their usual club contact.
