Further to the club’s previous news item, our correspondents (SPICA SERVICES (S) PTE LTD) have provided the following update on the Indonesian coal exports:

  • The Ministry of Energy and Mineral has stated that there are 25 mining companies in East Kalimantan province or 122 companies all over Indonesia that are allowed to export coal because they had fulfilled their Domestic Market Obligation (DMO).
  • The DMO is an obligation that enforces all the mining companies to supply 25% of their total production to the national electricity company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).
  • There are 418 companies which until October 2021 have not complied with DMO, temporarily suspending their export permit.
  • The Indonesian government is yet to release the list of 122 companies that have fulfilled their DMO.

The club will continue to closely monitor this matter and provide updates as/when they are issued.
