Web Alert: New Guidance on LPG blending/ commingling from Intertanko

Intertanko has released its ‘Guide to the blending/commingling of LPG cargoes on board Gas Carriers’. This publication has been produced to aid ship owners with LPG interests and to address the relative lack of external guidance on the issue of blending/commingling of LPG cargoes. This topic was complicated by the recent amendment to SOLAS which placed restrictions on cargo blending and these guidelines should help members conduct blending and remain in compliance with SOLAS Regulation, VI/5-2.

The guide contains sections relating to:

• Reasons for blending
• Guidance on propane to butane blending
• The associated hazards and ways of blending
• Guidelines on blending
• Commercial implications

The guide is available for download by Intertanko members from their website.
