According to information released on a number of Egyptian newspapers and on the Egyptian media, on 21 September 2016 the Egyptian Cabinet reinstated the Egyptian Standard Specifications (2010) on all wheat shipments.

Further to the club’s recent update on the zero percentage tolerance on imports of wheat affected by Ergot Fungus in Egypt, the club’s local correspondents Eldib Pandi have further advised that, according to information released on a number of Egyptian newspapers and on the Egyptian media, on 21 September 2016 the Egyptian Cabinet reinstated the Egyptian Standard Specifications (2010) on all wheat shipments. According to these specifications the tolerated Ergot Fungus percentage is 0.05%.

The Egyptian Cabinet also decided that the Egyptian General Authority For Supply Commodities (GASC) shall contract with a specialized international company that will inspect and receive the imported wheat shipments in accordance with the Egyptian Standard Specifications, the International Standards of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Codex Alimentarius or “Food Code”.

The specialized international company shall replace the tripartite Egyptian health authorities’ committee.
