Sailors' Society Wellness at Sea - Social interaction

Seafarer wellbeing has been a focal topic for Standard Club in recent years, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic and we are proud to be working in partnership with Sailors’ Society’s Wellness at Sea programme, sharing helpful advice and resources over a period of 27 weeks.

In this cycle we will be focusing on social wellness – how we interact with others. It includes the pursuit of harmony in your family, community, and work environment.

Communication, handling conflict, and managing diversity are things we all do daily. They are seemingly simple actions to which we rarely give a second thought but are we really communicating effectively?

Perhaps for today we could focus on the question: How do you communicate?

We attach below a useful handout 'Seven secrets of great communication' and a podcast sharing a conversation with Sailors’ Society Regional Manager for Wellness at Sea India, who speaks on the challenges faced by families of seafarers, and her families' own experience as her father was a Master Mariner.

Stay tuned to this space as more resources from both Standard Club and Sailors’ Society will be shared regularly.
