On 14 October 2019 the US administration imposed sanctions against Turkey under Executive Order 13894, designating the Government of Turkey's Ministry of Energy & Natural Resources and the Ministry of National Defence together with three individual Ministers, to the US Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) sanctions list. On 23 October 2019 the US lifted these sanctions, following the Turkish government's agreement to a ceasefire in Syria.
