News: Novel coronavirus update

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases continues to rise according to the World Health Organisation.

As at 10:00 (CET) on 12 February 2020 the number of confirmed cases had reached 45,171 across 25 countries, however the rate of reported infections has decreased.

Members should remain vigilant and we recommend members to check with the local agents and club correspondents on the latest information required before entering port and contact us in case they need any assistance.

Members should also be cautious of unsolicited information, particularly emails, that purport to be in respect of coronavirus and come from unknown senders. The WHO has warned that criminals are disguising themselves as respected medical and shipping entities to steal money or sensitive information.  Members are advised to conduct thorough due diligence, carefully checking the identity of entities and their authenticity prior to opening electronic correspondence or providing information. Beware that criminals use email, websites, phone calls, text messages, and even fax messages for their scams.
