In line with the information received from our local correspondents GAC, it is reported that the port of Hodeidah, Yemen, has been reopened and was operational as of 27 August 2015 at 11:30.

We have attached two circulars issued by the management of the port of Aden inviting the shipping industry to resume operations. It is important to note however that water facilities and electricity are still unavailable at Ma’alla and Steamer Point districts in which the port of Aden is located.

With respect to the Ras Isa port, we are told that the Safer Marine Terminal is closed and has not been operational for the preceding two months. Members should be aware that reports indicate that Yemen's national oil company (SEPOC) will not allow any vessel to berth at the Safer Marine Terminal unless an agreement is signed with the Yemeni Government in advance. Moreover, we understand that only one tug boat is operational at the terminal at present.

As with our previous updates on this topic, members should continue to exercise caution when calling at ports in the region and should always carry out a full voyage risk-assessment, as well as liaising with the relevant authorities and local agent.

The club will continue to monitor the position and keep members closely advised.
