Man with blue safety helmet

Maritime transport is the lifeblood of the world economy. It plays a critical role in maintaining trade flows and keeping supply chains intact. That function has never been more important than during the COVID-19 pandemic. International shipping requires comprehensive insurance cover.

On 27 October 2021 at 1-2pm Capt John Dolan, Deputy Director of Loss Prevention will be presenting on:

  • the technical and safety challenges the container shipping sector faces today,
  • the measures that are being considered to improve safety in shipping operations and,
  • the implications for insurers of that sector.

In this webinar - for CII members only - you can learn how P&I clubs provide essential support to enable ship owners and managers to trade. This is particularly pertinent to container shipping, a sector that has witnessed extraordinary growth in recent decades. That expansion has brought major safety and technical challenges for shipowners/managers, ports, ship masters, pilots and crews. Initiatives are underway to mitigate some of these challenges, but much greater research, studies and resources are required to improve safety margins with container ship vessels and their operation.
