Press release: The Standard Club appoints Leanne O'Loughlin as head of New York office

News & Insights 8 January 2018

The focus on the New York office as a claims service hub for the Americas demonstrates the club’s commitment to their existing clients and indicates an intention to grow the business within this important market.

The Standard Club has started out the new year with some personnel announcements in their New York office. Leanne O’Loughlin has been appointed President/Regional Director of Charles Taylor P&I Management (Americas) plc, succeeding LeRoy Lambert, who has assumed the role of General Counsel.

Leanne brings a wealth of experience to this role, having joined The Standard Club’s London office in 2010, before transferring to the New York office in 2013. Leanne began her legal career as a commercial and civil solicitor. Leanne is legally qualified in England & Wales, Ireland and New York.

LeRoy joined The Standard Club in 2009 after 25 years in private practice, latterly as a partner with Blank Rome. He has vast experience in all areas of maritime law, including US Jones Act and charterparty and bill of lading disputes. LeRoy is the first General Counsel to be appointed to the New York office, and will enhance the club’s in-house capabilities, particularly with regard to the management of complex US claims and dispute resolution.

Mr. Lambert commented, 'This is a great move for all concerned and demonstrates the club’s long-term commitment to the Americas. I look forward very much to refocusing my time and energy on claims and supporting Leanne and the New York team in my new role'.

The Standard Club has had a strong presence in the US since long before the establishment of its New York office in 1998. The club boasts an enviable list of long-standing members in North America. The focus on the New York office as a claims service hub for the Americas demonstrates the club’s commitment to their existing clients and indicates an intention to grow the business within this important market.

Commenting on the appointments, Eddy Morland, head of the Club’s UK & Americas Division, said: 'The United States and Canada are key areas for The Standard Club, these appointments demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the region and will enable the team to offer a more specific in house legal and dispute resolution service.'
