The notice provides information to Bahraini and foreign flagged vessels calling at Bahraini ports or operating in Bahraini waters.

Attached is the Kingdom of Bahrain Marine Notice referring to orders to Bahraini and foreign flagged vessels calling at Bahraini ports or operating in Bahraini waters, and that intend to use an Exhaust Gas Clearning System (EGCS) in compliance with the sulphur limit of 0.50%.

EGCS units should be approved by flag authoirty or a recognised organisation and issued with the relevant IMO Compliance Certificate.

Discharge of EGCS washwater is to be monitored and recorded. Such discharge is prohibited within Bahrain port limits and anchorage area.

Discharging washwater from open loop scrubbers is not permitted into Bahraini territorial water and exclusive economic zone unless it complies with IMO 2015 guidleines.

The notice provides a list of required EGCS documentation required to be kept onboard.

We thank our our correspondent GAC Dubai (www.gac.com) for providing the Bahrain Marine Notice.
