Certain flag states, including Japan and the Marshall Islands have issued safety notices warning mariners
Certain flag states, including Japan and the Marshall Islands have issued safety notices warning mariners that the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) has advised that certain makes of ECDIS fail to display some significant underwater features in the standard display mode. Mariners are strongly recommended to use the IHO ENC data presentation and performance checks issued through ENC service providers and available on the IHO web site: www.iho.int to check the operation of their ECDIS to determine if their ECDIS is affected.
It is noted that some earlier ECDIS displays of some types of wreck, including stranded wrecks will not be seen in any display mode. See notices and manufacturers for full advice.
