News: Singapore MPA issues new advisory for Ships and service providers

News & Insights 24 August 2020

Singapore continues to take a calibrated and risk-based approach in determining the precautions and measures for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Singapore continues to take a calibrated and risk-based approach in determining the precautions and measures for the COVID-19 pandemic. Port Marine Circular (PMC 32) requires that any suspected or confirmed COVID-19 infected crew on board the vessel receives proper medical treatment before leaving the last port and starting its journey to Singapore. All  ships  scheduled  or  intending  to  call  at Singapore must immediately notify and seek approval to enter the Port of Singapore if there are suspected COVID-19 cases on board or if it had conducted crew change in the past 14 days before arrival in Singapore.

In its second advisory (PMC 35) the Singapore MPA requires that the owner, agent or master of a vessel informs the Port Master 3 days before the arrival of the vessel, that the vessel will be conducting any of the  activities such as repairs, servicing, surveys and inspections which requires shore-based personnel to board the vessel. These requirements are not for ships receiving bunkers and ship supplies.

The circulars are attached on the right for download.
