IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim has issued a personal message to all the seafarers applauding the work they are doing being on the frontline and stating that they are not forgotten and asking them to stay strong in these difficult times. We encourage members to share this letter with the seafarers.
IMO has also issued a joint statement with World Customs Organization (WCO) on the integrity of global supply chains.
The IMO Secretary-General held a video conference with 10 port state control regimes with a view to promote harmonized action, assistance and a pragmatic approach with respect to PSC inspections at this time.

International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) has issued a statement saying that it is committed to supporting the industry and flag states wherever possible and has therefore established a COVID-19 task force to identify and assess measures that can be implemented in a coordinated fashion to help facilitate business continuity. In an open letter IACS describes the actions it has taken to date to address specific suggestions received from industry partners and that it will continue to work on these along with further issues that may be subsequently identified.
