The WHO Director General accepted the Emergency Committee’s proposal and on the 17 July 2019, declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) a public health emergency of international concern.Our local correspondents have advised that, as yet, no measures have been implemented by the local authorities in relation to vessels calling to the DRC. However, given the serious and fluid nature of this emergency we would advise our members, who are calling to the DRC and neighbouring countries, to monitor any updates posted on the WHO’s website.
