Web Alert: New ICS Guidelines on compliance with the 2020 ‘Global Sulphur Cap’

A new publication has been released by the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and supported by the Asian Shipowners Association and the European Community Shipowners’ Associations.

This publication is provisional guidance by the ICS and has been prepared for the vast majority of ships that will comply with the Global Sulphur Cap immediately after 1 January 2020, which will be using fuel oils with a sulphur content of 0.50% m/m or less.

The guide covers key areas relating to the cap including:

  • Regulations
  • Selection of compliant fuel
  • Properties of blended fuel oil
  • Properties of distillate fuels
  • Ship specific implementation plans
  • Bunkering
  • Fuel oil non-availability
