The club is aware of recent reports indicating that ships attempting to trade at a number of Libya’s oil ports are coming under threat of attack from armed forces.

According to the club’s sources, the Libyan government has banned shippers from loading oil cargoes at several Libyan ports, including Es Sider, Ra’s Lanuf and Zueitina, following their fall to non-government groups.

It is reported that the Libyan government has declared that it will take action against any ship deemed to be illegally entering its waters or attempting to trade at the above ports.

The club recommends that its members exercise caution when considering trading to Libyan oil ports and/or through Libyan waters and to take steps to avoid possible confrontation with armed forces.

The above information is subject to change and local advice should be sought.
