Members with Singapore flagged ships are advised that the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has recently issued shipping circulars related to the commissioning testing of ballast water management systems (BWMS) and the incorporation of contingency measures into ballast water management plans (BWMP).

News: US OFAC issues further Advisory in respect of Iran sanctions
On 4 September 2019, the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued an 'Advisory to the Maritime Petroleum Shipping Community' to alert persons globally to the significant sanctions risks related to shipping petroleum or petroleum products from Iran.

News: The Mediterranean ECA
The Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean was adopted with the aim of reducing pollution and protecting the marine environment in the Mediterranean Sea. The convention now has 22 contracting parties, all of whom have committed to take measures to assess and reduce pollution from ships travelling through the area.
