News & Insights 2 August 2017
The list of USCG Type Approved Ballast Water Management Systems and USCG accepted Alternate Management Systems is included in the letter.
Further to the club’s previous web alert, the California State Lands Commission (SLC) has issued a letter (dated 24 July 2017) approving the use of USCG Type Approved Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) and USCG accepted Alternate Management Systems (AMS) to manage ballast water prior to discharge in California waters.
The list of USCG Type Approved Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) and USCG accepted Alternate Management Systems (AMS) is included in the attached letter.
Ships intending to discharge treated ballast in California waters with either a USCG Type Approved BWMS or a USCG accepted AMS are required to fill out the Ballast Water Treatment Technology Annual Reporting Form and the Ballast Water Treatment Supplemental Reporting Form (see enclosures in the attached letter).
Additionally, ships using either a USCG type approved BWMS or a USCG accepted AMS in California waters are required to report the ballast water management system on the Ballast Water Management Report.
