News: All trials suspended until first of the new year 2021 in Eastern District of Louisiana
News & Insights 23 August 2020
The order affects only trial dates so attorneys seeking to continue or modify other deadlines should contact the presiding judges.
All civil and criminal jury trials in the Eastern District of Louisiana are suspended until 1 January 2021 by order of the Chief Judge of that US District Court. Trial dates will be reset by each presiding judge. The order affects only trial dates so attorneys seeking to continue or modify other deadlines should contact the presiding judges.
The Court's Order was made to combat the spread of COVID-19, given the severity of risks to the public, and in consideration of public health recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A copy of the Order is available in the attachment box.
