The International Maritime Organization (IMO) International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention (ISM code) first became mandatory in 1998. This article follows on from The Standard Club's recent edition of Standard Safety looking at the altered safety landscape, 30 years after the Herald of Free Enterprise disaster. This is also available on the right.
