News: US lifts sanctions against Turkey

29 October 2019

On 14 October 2019 the US administration imposed sanctions against Turkey under Executive Order 13894, designating the Government of Turkey's Ministry of Energy & Natural Resources and the Ministry of National Defence together with three individual Ministers, to the US Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) sanctions list.  Further details are provided in a prevous web alert, please see the link on the right.

On 23 October 2019 the US lifted these sanctions, following the Turkish government's agreement to a ceasefire in Syria. This means that the two Ministries and three individuals have been removed from the US SDN list and it is no longer prohibited under US sanctions to have transactions involving these entities or individuals.
