Press Article: 20 years of the ISM code

12 September 2018

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention (ISM code) first became mandatory in 1998. Twenty years and five amendments later, Yves Vandenborn, Director of Loss Prevention, reflects on how the code is doing and what still needs to be done in an article for Safety4Sea Log published in September.

The article is available on the right, reproduced with kind permission of Safety4Sea.

This article follows on from The Standard Club's recent edition of Standard Safety looking at the altered safety landscape, 30 years after the Herald of Free Enterprise disaster. This is also available on the right.
