24 September 2008New US regulations in respect of operational discharges from ships
On June 17, 2008, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a draft notice of their intent to regulate incidental discharges from ships (discharges which are part of normal operations) under their authority in the Clean Water Act. From 19th December 2008 shipowners will be expected to comply with new regulations governing operational discharges from ships within US waters.

17 September 2008USCG NVMC – new template for e-NOA/D
The USCG National Vessel Movement Center (NVMC) issued a notice stating that a new version (4.5) of the InfoPath template for electronic notices of arrival and departure (e-NOA/D) is now available.
10 September 2008Bunkers Convention Update
We have now been notified that Samoa, as a State Party to the Bunker Convention, is prepared to issue Bunkers State Certificates to Hong Kong registered ships.

15 September 2008New rules of the Association
We refer to The Standard Bulletin dated 20 August 2008 and previous publications concerning the proposed changes to the P&I and Defence Rules of the Association. As a result of comments received, some further minor drafting improvements have been made.
