The operation of super yachts is distinct in many respects from conventional trading ships, but nonetheless they are still exposed to many of the traditional marine perils and undoubtedly need the right liability cover. This is particularly true in an era of larger yachts, with governmental agencies and others taking an increasingly rigorous approach to enforcement of environmental and other regulations.
The club provides P&I cover for a number of the world's largest yachts. The cover is generally provided on a fixed premium basis on terms that are significantly wider than are available in the commercial market.
Recent legislation such as the Bunker Convention applies to large yachts over 1,000 gross tons and the club can assist with provision of Blue Cards in compliance with this.
